Welcome in Schloss Glarisegg
Welcome in Schloss Glarisegg
The course takes place every year in the Castle Glarisegg in Switzerland. The castle lies on the Swiss side of Lake Constance, nestled between the forest and the beach. The Schloss (castle) Glarisegg is cared since 2003 by a community of around 40 adults and 20 children, along with a seminar centre, a school for children, a permaculture garden.
The seminar centre
The seminar centre of Glarisegg is composed of a complex of different buildings. A cultural centre, with wide rooms from 28 to 250 m2 for workshops and movement, a guest house with 59 beds, and a big professional kitchen with a beautiful dining hall. The cuisine of the seminar centre is vegan, organic and/or regional. High-quality food from the permaculture garden, from various Demeter farms in our immediate surroundings and by organic wholesale partners.
Preparing the meals
Preparing the meals
Cooking is an essential part of the daily life structure within the EDE.
Teams of participants and team players, organized in shifts and collaboration groups will take turns in creating delicious and nourishing meals for us to enjoy. While breakfast and lunch will be prepared by a team of EDE alumni, we will all take care of preparing our dinners and brunches on Sunday. Cooking and cleaning together is a hands on opportunity to bond and apply what we learn while doing something creative and practical. Meal preparation by the group for the group is a binding agent of the community we create for 5 weeks.
The food comes from a selection of local farmers, an organic wholesale retailer, and some food-saving from local supermarkets.
The food is mainly vegan, sometimes vegetarian, supportive of a more sustainable, ethical and environmentally friendly food consumption.
Our host: The community of Glarisegg
Our host: The community of Glarisegg
In 2003, a group of people came together to bring their shared vision of a community and a place of consciousness to life. They found and purchased the Glarisegg Castle property on Lake Constance at auction.
Today’s community consists of people from different backgrounds, professions and life experiences. What unites them is the desire to become more conscious, the pursuit of authenticity, the honest confrontation of conflicts, mutual support and encouragement, and the will to lead an ecological, sustainable life.
